MSU volleyball head coach Cathy George previewed the upcoming road games, including a dangerous Nebraska team, who beat No. 1 Penn Stateon the road and lost a very close game to No. 13 Ohio State.

“Nebraska, they went ahead and beat Penn State at Penn State which is no easy task,” George said. “Nebraska is a very strong, solid, well-coached team, a team that traditionally is strong year in and year out, and I think they have a nice group of players right now.”

As for Iowa, the Hawkeyes have a 10-7 overall record, but have opened up Big Ten play with four straight losses. Regardless, George is not taking them lightly.

“Iowa has a coach that is fairly new to their program, and he’s really getting them to believe and that team’s playing real hard,” George said. “They’re playing well, they’re really starting to maximize themselves.”

Volleyball games on the road are of utmost importance, especially during conference play. Despite the hostile environments and good competition, George said the girls will be prepared.

“We have a big task ahead of us this week, but that’s no different than any other week.” George said. “We’ll be ready.”

The Spartan volleyball team currently sits at 10-5 with a 2-2 conference record. The match against Nebraska begins at 8 p.m. on Oct. 7, and the match against Iowa is an 8 p.m. start on Oct 10.

MSU will return to East Lansing for a four-game homestand following Iowa beginning with Maryland Oct. 14.
