Rally for the Alleys, the official crowd-funding kickoff event for the Artist Alleys project in downtown East Lansing, will take place from 4-7 p.m. this evening, Oct. 7 at Ann Street Plaza.

The crowdfunding campaign is part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces, Community Places program. Through Patronicity, the community can make tax-deductible donations. If the project reaches its crowdfunding goal of $45,000 by Nov. 12, Michigan Economic Development Corporation will provide a $45,000 matching grant.

The event taking place tonight will give the community an opportunity to learn about the artist alleys project and the crowdfunding campaign.

At 4:45 p.m., free family activities will take place in a number of public spaces, including live music, caricaturists, life-sized board games, 3-D printing, food samples from Velvet A Candy Store and El Azteco.
