A rundown of welcome week crime

At 1:25 a.m. on Sept. 1, MSU police discovered two individuals, one attempting to climb the southwest corner of the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum. After contacting the 19 year olds, officers could smell alcohol and detained them for a Minor in Possession, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Near Yakeley Hall at 8:23 a.m. on Sept. 1, both MSU police and the East Lansing Fire Department were dispatched to a bike accident near Yakeley Hall involving an 18 year old female student. According to the report, she tried to dodge pedestrians on the sidewalk and fell off, suffering a head injury and was sent to Sparrow Hospital. 

On Sept. 1 between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. officers were dispatched to Bryan Hall after the smell of marijuana was reported by a staff member in the dorm. An 18 year old male was arrested and charged with possession. The case was forwarded to Ingham County Prosecutor's Office and a warrant will be sought. 

After getting food at the International Center on Sept. 2, an 18 year old male student realized he lost his wallet. Later, the wallet was returned with $50 in cash, a bus pass and an American Eagle credit card. He does not suspect his friend, an 18 year old female student who recovered the wallet, however a 21 year old male is a suspect.

A 22 year old female student in East Shaw Hall was the victim of what the police report called a burglary at about 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 31. While in her room with an unlocked door, a male suspect entered, looked at a computer, then said he was lost and left the room. Nothing was stolen. The suspect is white, has dirty blonde hair and is about six feet tall.

Sometime between Aug. 15 and Sept. 1, a bicycle was stolen from a bike rack around Brody Hall. It was valued at about $150. It was registered.

At Sparticipation at 6 p.m. on Sept. 1, a 17 year old male student was bumped into by a suspect and later realized his wallet was missing. It was a brown leather trifold and taken was a credit card, his MSU ID and $40 in cash. The suspect is a 20-30 year old black male with a muscular build and short hair.

On Physics Road near Auditorium Road, a 20 year old male was cited for a Minor in Possession at 2:49 a.m. on Aug. 29.

A 19 year old male was arrested for marijuana possession at about 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 in Armstrong Hall after officers were dispatched referencing the smell of marijuana. He was arrested and processed and the case was forwarded to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office for Review.

At 2:41 a.m. on Aug. 30, two individuals, a brother and sister were arrested for a Minor in Possession and Furnishing to a Minor. They were outside, near Abbot Hall, where apparently the brother wanted to show the sister a good time on campus. 

On Michigan Avenue near Beal Street at 12:10 on Aug. 30, a 20 year old male was cited for driving with a suspended license. 

At 12:10 a.m. on Aug. 31 on Michigan Avenue, near Beal Street, an 18 year old male was cited for marijuana possession. The case was sent to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office for review.

Near Farm Lane and Trowbridge Road, an 18 year old male was arrested for a Minor in Possession. At 1:25 a.m. on Aug. 31, he was outside where he was detained by officers.
