After week three of the NCAA college football season, MSU now sits one spot back from No.1 on the AP Top 25 Poll. The last time MSU was ranked No. 2 was in 1966.

AP top 10 teams

  1. Ohio State
  2. Michigan State
  3. TCU / Ole Miss (tie)
  4. Baylor
  5. Notre Dame
  6. Georgia
  7. LSU
  8. UCLA
  9. Florida State

The last time two Big Ten teams were ranked No. 1 and 2 was in 2006. On Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, Ohio State (1) and Michigan (2) squared off in Columbus, Ohio, as undefeated teams (11-0). OSU won the game 42-39 and went on to lose in the BCS National Championship game to Florida.

On Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, MSU will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for a matchup of its own in week 11. If both teams are able to reach a 10-0 record, the game may be just as, if not more, enticing than the former.

Northwestern reached 17th in the poll, up from 23rd, and Wisconsin jumped from 24th to 22nd, rounding out the poll with four Big Ten teams.

Iowa and Minnesota both received AP votes as unranked teams.

In week four, MSU will take on Central Michigan at Spartan Stadium and OSU will play Western Michigan at Ohio Stadium.
