Welcome to the live coverage feed for the matchup between No. 2- ranked MSU (3-0 overall) and Central Michigan (1-2 overall).

FINAL

The No. 2-ranked MSU football team remained perfect, moving to 4-0 on the season with a 30-10 win over Central Michigan (1-3 overall) on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans struck first on a six-play 72-yard drive capped off by a six-yard touchdown run for redshirt freshman running back Madre London.

MSU junior kicker Michael Geiger built some confidence, hitting a 47-yard field goal to give the Spartans a 10-point lead.

The Spartans built a 17-0 lead on a seven-play 52-yard drive capped off by 5-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Connor Cook to junior tight end Josiah Price.

The touchdown gave Price sole possession of the record for most touchdown catches by a tight end at MSU with 14.

CMU ended the half with a touchdown drive of their own, moving it 80 yards in 13 plays to pull within 10 at halftime.

The Chippewas were driving the ball well, but two blocked field goals in the first half for MSU took some points off the board.

Sophomore defensive end Demetrius Cooper blocked the first one and senior defensive end Shilique Calhoun blocked the second.

CMU was the first team to strike in the second half. The Chippewas drove the ball 63 yards in nine plays for a field goal to make it 17-10.

Things slowed down for a while before MSU scored with a little under nine minutes remaining in the fourth.

The Spartans went on a six-play, 61-yard drive, with sophomore running back Gerald Holmes punching it in from three yards out to give MSU a 24-10 lead.

A CMU fumble on the next drive gave the Spartans the ball back and MSU put the game away with an eight-play 58-yard touchdown drive.

Holmes punched in another one from six yards out, showing that head coach Mark Dantonio meant it when he said he would go with the hottest back.

The PAT was blocked giving MSU a 30-10 lead and that is where it would stay. MSU begins Big Ten play next week against Purdue. It will be homecoming week for the Spartans when the Boilermakers come to East Lansing.
