A 23-year-old male international student taking summer classes at MSU was assaulted on his walk back from Harper's Restaurant and Brew Pub early July 10 at 1:30 a.m., MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
The victim told MSU police he was walking east on Grand River Avenue when he spotted one black male and one white male. After walking past them, the victim turned and was sucker punched by the white male.
The suspects fled from the scene and the victim made his way to the 7-Eleven at 918 E. Grand River Ave., where his injuries were tended to.
He then returned to his dorm at Owen Hall, where he declined to be questioned by the police and refused medical treatment for the two small cuts he had sustained.
A day later, an MSU employee in Wilson Hall noticed the residence hall report and reported it to MSU police. The victim was then brought in for questioning.
The investigation is ongoing.
