Dawson, Trice and Valentine receive All-Big Ten honors

Three men's basketball players received All-Big Ten honors on Monday. Senior forward Branden Dawson led MSU with an All-Big Ten second team selection, and junior guard Denzel Valentine and senior guard Travis Trice each received third team selections. 

Dawson leads the conference in rebounding, pulling down 9.3 per game, to go with 11.6 points and 1.5 blocks. He is the first player 6-foot-6 or shorter to lead the conference in rebounding since 1988.

Dawson was also named to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team. 

Trice as the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the conference at 3.4 and is averaging a team-high 14.8 points and 5.4 assists. 

Valentine has been a swiss army knife this season, averaging 14.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He ranks top 15 in the Big Ten in eight statistical categories. 

Wisconsin senior forward Frank Kaminsky was voted Player of the Year, and Ohio State freshman guard D’Angelo Russell was voted Freshman of the Year.
