The MSU Wind Symphony will be performing at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 in Cobb Great Hall at Wharton Center.

According to the MSU College of Music website, the Wind Symphony contains some of the most talented wind and percussion majors within the college.

There will be a number of distinguished guest performers, including associate professor of trombone Ava Ordman playing the trombone and Joseph Lulloff and James Forger, both playing the saxophone.

For Forger, the Dean of the MSU College of Music, this performance includes a chance to play with Lulloff, a former student of his. Lulloff is a saxophone professor at MSU.

"(The symphony) is in great shape, the music is taking shape. With over a week left we are putting on the finishing touches,” conductor and professor Kevin Sedatole said.

He added the setup and performance of the saxophone quartet in Urban Requiem will be very unique within its own repertoire.

The concert will feature other songs like “An Outdoor Overture” and “Emblems”, both by Aaron Copland, Rosa Parks Boulevard by Michael Daugherty, and “Amazing Grace” by William Himes and Luis Maldonado.

The performance will mark the fifth of the academic year, and the first of 2015.

Kathleen Adams, the communications manager for the MSU College of Music, said she suspects there will be a noteworthy amount of people attracted to the show, especially with the presence of the multiple guest performers.

Tickets are free to students with their ID and general admission is $10 and $8 for senior citizens.
