Volleyball receives four All-Big Ten honors

December 3, 2014

Women’s volleyball received four All-Big Ten honors for the 2014 season, announced Tuesday by conference coaches.

Sophomore Chloe Reinig earned All-Big Ten honors, senior libero Kori Moster won an honorable mention, freshman Rachel Minarick was appointed to the All-Freshman team and the sportsmanship award went to senior Jazmine White.

Last year, Reinig was selected for the All-Freshman team which gives MSU a First Team selection for seven consecutive years. During this 2014 season, Reinig ranks sixth in the Big Ten for her overall 3.66 kills per second and 3.94 in Big Ten play alone, ranking second in the conference. For points per match, 4.09/s, she is ranked fifth overall and has gone over 20 kills four times.

This recognition for Moster marks her third straight honorable mention pick in a row. She ranks number three in the Big Ten overall for her 4.60 dig per set averages and is ranked fourth for her 4.66 in Big Ten matches. Moster is also an All-American candidate, who has had double-digit digs in 28 of 31 season matches and 117 of 135 matches in her college career. She has the fifth all-time Big Ten annual career digs, with 2,179, and is seventh among Division One players.

Minarick’s All-Freshman honor is the third consecutive recognition for MSU, the other being Halle Peterson in 2012 and Reinig last year. She is currently the top freshman for overall assists, ranking fifth in the Big Ten for her 10.07 average.

White is ranked ninth in the Big Ten and 71st nationally for her 1.20 average blocks per set and 1.21 average in Big Ten games alone, where she ranks eighth. She has accomplished her career bests this season with her 1.48 set average and blocks.
