The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum just opened a new exhibit that aims to change the way people think about the future of East Lansing.
Titled "East Lansing 2030: Collegeville Re-envisioned," architects and urban designers have been invited to present their vision for the future of the city.
Running from Nov. 14 to April 26, the Broad plans to invite different designers each month to present their past work and the ideas they have for East Lansing's future.
At the end of the exhibit's tenure in the museum, the designers will present what they feel could happen in the city in the next few decades.
Alec Hathaway, associate curator of architecture and design, said in a video on the museum's website that the goal of the project was to bring in new ideas to "change the way the community talks and thinks about its future."
Participants include UrbanLab from Chicago, PLY Architecture from Ann Arbor, DIGSAU from Philadelphia, LEVENBETTS STUDIO from New York and more.
Hathaway stressed that the exhibit is more than about getting people interested for architecture. Rather, he said it is about helping people see "how architecture and design relate directly to their lives."
