Roads to avoid Friday during homecoming

When the homecoming parade begins Friday at 6 p.m., getting anywhere by car can be tricky. Here is a list of streets that will be closed, according to the City of East Lansing. Plan alternative routes accordingly.

Major East Lansing streets that will be closed Friday:

? Abbot between Whitehills/Oxford and Burcham from 2:30-7 p.m.

? Abbot between Burcham and Grand River from 5:15-7:15 p.m.

? Burcham Dbetween Old Hickory and Abbot from 3:30-6:30 p.m.

? Grand River between Abbot and Collingwood  from 5:15-7:15 p.m.

Side streets near the East Lansing Hannah Community Center that will close:

? Centerlawn from Forest to Abbot from 2:30-7 p.m.

? Evergreen from Centerlawn to Northlawn from 2:30-7 p.m.

? Forest from Centerlawn to Northlawn from 2:30-7 p.m.

? Fern from Evergreen to Abbot from 2:30-7 p.m.

? Northlawn from Forest to Abbot from 2:30-7 p.m.

The parade will go from the community center south on Abbot Road to Grand River Avenue, where it will hang a left and go down Grand River Avenue to Farm Lane and into campus, ending at Shaw Lane.
