Police believe reported gunshots associated with fraternity party at Lansing Center

April 28, 2014

An MSU fraternity party ended in reported gunfire early Sunday morning, Lansing police said. Shots were reportedly heard about a block from the Lansing Center, where the party was held.

Although no shooters or suspects were found, Lansing Police Public Information Officer Robert Merritt said he believed the gunfire to be associated with "Pretty Nasty," a party put on by Omega Psi Phi and Kappa Alpha Psi on April 26.

The party, advertised in posters as "the biggest college party in Michigan," was larger than expected and was dispersed around midnight, Merritt said.

Omega Psi Phi president Darius Barrett and Kappa Alpha Psi historian Jalen Page both refused to comment about the party.
