Sunday’s snowfall towers over Lansing’s previous daily record by 7 inches, and light snow has continued to fall throughout Monday morning.

The Lansing area set a new record for snowfall on Jan. 5, coming in at 9.5 inches total.
Sunday’s snowfall towers over Lansing’s previous daily record by 7 inches, and light snow has continued to fall throughout Monday morning.
The previous record was considerably lower, recorded at 2.5 inches on Jan. 5, 1873. National Weather Services meteorologist Evan Webb said the previous record was “low for that day.”
