Football team honored at halftime

January 7, 2014

Nearly a week after No. 3 MSU football celebrated its Rose Bowl victory, the team walked out to cheers at halftime of the men’s basketball game versus Ohio State.

“I’m so thankful for all of you and all of the support you give us day in and day out,” head coach Mark Dantonio said.

He went on to acknowledge those who made the trip out to California to root the team on in Pasadena. What stole the show, however, was when Dantonio passed the microphone to junior guard Travis Jackson to lead the entire crowd in his now-famous “Yes!” celebration.

“Coach D asked me to do this, and at first I was a little nervous,” Jackson said. “But I realized we have the best fans in the country, so we are going to do this.”

More than 14,000 fans bounced up and down and pointed their fingers in the air, screaming “yes” with every bounce.

The fans then simmered down, but not for long as Rich Homie Quan’s “Type of Way” was cued up on the speakers.
