For the MSU students and football fans unable to travel cross country to Pasadena, those spending New Year’s Day in East Lansing can still enjoy Rose Bowl events and numerous food and drink specials.
Bars such as Dublin Square Irish Pub and Harpers will be featuring half-off drinks throughout the day to keep the Spartans in spirit.
Harpers bartender Ben Davis said in addition to the drinks, starting at 1 p.m and continuing thoughout the night there will be a $7.95 all-you-can-eat tailgate buffet featuring wings, pizza, cookies, burgers, fruit, salad and more.
Contributing to the festivities, Davis said the Sparrow Tailgate Show with sports broadcasters Mad Dog,Tim Staudt and Jack Ebling will be held before the game begins.
Crunchy’s East Lansing will host a $2 tailgate beginning at 1 p.m., featuring $2 Screwdrivers, Bloody Mary’s and Labatt and Miller Lite drafts.
And Reno’s East will also feature gameday specials including fun giveaways and prizes, drink specials and a DJ to get the crowd jumping, said Reno’s Manager Jen Mattlin.
“We wanted to do something extra special because we haven’t been to the Rose Bowl in a while,” Mattlin said. “So this is kind of a special occasion and we wanted to do some extra stuff.”
Human biology senior Terrence Troutman said he’ll most likely find himself at multiple places tomorrow racking in various gameday specials.
“I really like going all over the place,” Troutman said. “You can’t just lay all of your eggs in one basket.”
And for the students who would rather watch the game in the privacy of their own homes, local carryout restaurants such as Pizza Hut, Conrad’s and Menna’s Joint will be open and ready to serve.
“I can’t wait, it’s going to be awesome tomorrow,” Troutman said. “Go Green.”
