The preliminary exam for the man accused of holding an MSU student in his apartment against her will has been moved.

The preliminary exam for the man accused of holding an MSU student in his apartment against her will has been moved.
East Lansing resident Samuel Roberts was scheduled for a preliminary exam Friday morning. A future date has not been set.
On the night of Oct. 19, Roberts allegedly held his ex-girlfriend in his apartment at knifepoint. He was charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault with a dangerous weapon, interference with electronic communication and domestic violence.
That night, Roberts allegedly became violent and suicidal, according to the victim’s statement obtained by East Lansing police. He had a blood-alcohol level of .10 when he was arrested.
When the victim tired to call her friend for help, Roberts allegedly took her phone and threatened to throw it out the window. He threw her into furniture around his apartment, leaving her with minor injuries.
In a statement previously obtained by The State News from police, the victim claims Roberts had a violent history and once attempted to strangle her.
According the to MSU database, both the victim and Roberts are students.
