As of 4 p.m., nearly 750 Lansing Board of Water and Light customers were out of power following last night’s severe thunderstorm.
The severe storm that started at about 5 p.m Sunday evening continued with heavy winds Monday and resulted in more power outages, said Stephen Serkaian, director of communications for Lansing Board of Water and Light.
Serkaian said the severe storm hit most of the Lansing area and officials are in overdrive to fix damaged land lines and remove fallen trees.
“In order to make sure that the safety of our workers are protected, we have to go through diligence in making sure that lines and poles are replaced properly,” he said.
There is not a clear time for when the power will be restored but crews will continue to work throughout the night to repair and replace downed utility poles, Serkaian said.
