Many have tried, many have failed. On Friday, the “Big Dog Challenge” at What Up Dawg? claimed two more victims.

The challenge calls for contestants to eat all of the restaurant’s nine original-style hot dogs in 20 minutes. In addition to fame, winners also receive a T-shirt, the chance to make their own hot dog recipe and are immortalized with a picture on the wall of What Up Dawg?, located at 317 M.A.C. Ave.

What Up Dawg? general manager William Schramm preached patience as a method for completing the challenge.

“Everybody does real well for the first four or five hot dogs,” Schramm said. “Then you eat your sixth one and there’s the wall.”

None of the contestants were able to successfully complete the challenge at Friday’s event.
