A public hearing on whether the East Lansing City Council should approve East Lansing’s HopCat’s site plan and special use permit to sell alcohol will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 410 Abbot Road.
The bar is scheduled to be built on the ground floor of The Residences, 211 Ann St., the eight-story apartment building currently under construction downtown. At its Feb. 27 meeting, the East Lansing Planning Commission unanimously recommended the council approve the special use permit and site plan for the brewpub.
It will have a capacity of 271 people with seating on the ground floor and mezzanine and outside seating on the patio.
The pub currently has a location in Grand Rapids. Owner Mark Sellers plans to offer more than 100 craft beers on tap at the new location.
