At the Construction Junction meeting Thursday morning, project leaders reviewed some of MSU’s construction projects and their progress.
Brody Neighborhood’s phase five utilty improvements
People walking near Brody Hall might have fewer construction cones to maneuver by the end of spring as contractors finish up the fifth and final phase of the complex’s utility improvements.
This project dug up the front lawn of Brody Neighborhood to replace the underground steam and condensate distribution system.
Budget: $5.1 million
Slated timetable: Completion by August 2013
Steam system and road reconstruction
While parts of West Circle Drive west of IM Circle and Bogue Street have been closed to traffic, MSU community members should see the projects wrap up within the year.
Bogue Street and Shaw Lane intersection
Budget: $6.8 million
Slated timetable: Substantial completion by August 2013 and final completion by
June 2014
West Circle Drive steam loop, phase two
Budget: $21.5 million
Slated timetable: Final completion is planned for December 2013
Renovations to Fairchild Theatre in the Auditorium
After renovations are completed, Physical Plant construction planner Todd Wilson hopes theater patrons and performers will have an enhanced acoustic and aesthetic experience during shows.
The Fairchild Theatre renovations include enhancements to the stage, ceiling and the acoustic elements in the space. The renovation also will involve adding another elevator, fire system updates and electrical upgrades.
“(The Fairchild Theatre) physically feels much larger now with everything,” Wilson said.
Budget: $20 million
Slated timetable: Final completion by March 2014
