An East Lansing resident is in jail after police found the man breaking into a house Sunday on Evergreen Road.
According to a press release from East Lansing police, 21-year-old Manyiel Philmon was charged with first-degree home invasion, as well as resisting and obstructing police.
He was apprehended after police received a call about a man trying to open doors in the 500 block of Park Lane. Police received information of a home invasion occurring in the 500 block of Evergreen Road while they were investigating the initial report.
One of two suspects was assaulting a home owner on Evergreen Road when police arrived. Both suspects fled on foot.
Although Philmon was arrested after police utilized a canine unit, the other suspect still is at large.
At the time of the incident, the home owner did not seek medical attention.
