Vice president for Admin. services named

February 14, 2013

After about seven years as Dean of the College of Engineering, Satish Udpa has been named the executive vice president for administrative services and formally will start the position March 18, upon approval of the MSU Board of Trustees.

Udpa will fill the position formerly held by Fred Poston, who now is dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Udpa said he hopes to further promote integration of technology.

His role in the newly created position will include being responsible for MSU’s central human resources. Udpa will help with information technology operations and work with the Office of Planning and Budgets, according to a press release from MSU Today.

“I’m very, very excited because there’s a lot of potential for doing new things and the change in (the job) I’m doing,” he said.

Leo Kempel, associate dean for research and professor in the College of Engineering, will take Udpa’s current position March 18.
