Police: Man's fall from parking ramp a suicide

A 25-year-old Lansing resident’s Sunday death from a fall off a downtown parking ramp has been ruled a suicide, East Lansing police Capt. Jeff Murphy said.

“There’s nothing at all from our investigation that makes us believe otherwise,” Murphy said.
Police said the man had no connection to MSU.

Nursing senior Amanda Doyle, a server at Leo’s Coney Island, 333 Albert Ave., said the man appeared to have fallen from the City Center parking ramp off Albert Ave. when she saw him lying on the ground in front of the entrance to the CVS Pharmacy, 240 M.A.C. Ave., public parking entrance.

The man was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital.

Although a 21-year-old Lansing man committed suicide off the same structure in 2008, Murphy said suicides such as this are fairly uncommon in East Lansing,
