About $570 was raised and donated by MSU College of Human Medicine students to fight local domestic violence, according to media reports.
The college, representing the Women’s Health Interest Group, or WHIG, presented the check to Community Relations and Volunteer Coordinator Jillian Pastoor of End Violent Encounters, or EVE, according to the Lansing State Journal.
EVE provides support services and awareness for domestic abuse victims.
The money was raised in a Nov. 30, 2012 medical student spelling bee at Harrison Roadhouse, 720 Michigan Ave., involving more than 60 human medicine students.
The fundraiser was coordinated by WHIG and the College of Human Medicine’s chapters of the American Medical Association and the American Medical Women’s Association.
