The MSU women’s basketball team (4-0) cruised to a 57-29 victory over Virginia Tech (1-2) on Sunday evening at Breslin Center.

Sophomore center Jasmine Hines lead the team with 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Junior guard Klarissa Bell and senior guard Jasmine Thomas both chipped in with 10 points and five assists, while senior forward Courtney Schiffauer had an all-around effort with six points, four assists and nine rebounds.

The Spartans led for the majority of the game, with the thinnest lead held five minutes into the first half, where the Hokies were down by just a point. However, the Spartans ended the half on a 14-2 run and never looked back.

MSU displayed a strong defensive effort as the Hokies were held to 25.6 percent shooting compared to the Spartans’s 42.3 percent. The Spartans got to the line 18 times but struggled on converting free throws, hitting only half of them.

The Spartans return to action at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Breslin Center against Albany (1-1).
