After a strong fall campaign, the No. 12 MSU women’s golf team finishes off the fall season as they travel to the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., this weekend.

In its three tournaments this fall, the team has 10th, third and a second-place finish at its home tournament, which concluded on Sept. 16 at Forest Akers West Golf Course.

The competition at the Landfall Tradition might be the most difficult the Spartans will face all season, with 13 teams in the top 50 and nine in the top 25.

Last year, MSU tied for fifth at the tournament, while Purdue went on to win.

“You hate when good things come to an end; we’ve had a nice fall so far, and we wish that we could keep going,” MSU head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll said in a press release. “But it doesn’t keep going for anyone. All NCAA teams will be off by the first week of November, and then we will be really increasing our strength training.”

Senior Caroline Powers leads the team with a 73.67 scoring average through nine rounds this fall and has a team-best second-place finish in the Mary Fossum Invitational.

Powers, along with junior Liz Nagel, sophomore Jenny Sritragul, junior Allyssa Ferrell and junior Christine Meier, will compete for the Spartans this weekend.

The team tees off on Friday just after 10 a.m. and will finish the event on Sunday.
