Seventy-five years ago, the MSU Federal Credit Union, or MSUFCU, was started by a professor, and is now known as the largest university-based credit union.
The MSUFCU’s headquarters, 3777 West Road, has nine branches, four of which are in East Lansing, including in the Union and at 523 E. Grand River Ave.
Throughout this year, MSUFCU is offering promotions to members in honor of the 75 years the credit union has been in business. There is a new contest or giveaway every three months for the rest of the calendar year, and the prizes include the number 75 in honor of the anniversary.
Five members who use their MSUFCU Visa credit card from now until Sept. 30 will be randomly chosen to receive up to $575 to go toward paying their credit card.
Coinciding with the giveaways, there has been a different video on MSUFCU’s history on its website, with the current video about the credit union’s history between the 1970s and 1980s. Members who watch the video from now until Sept. 30 and take a quiz after are eligible to win a MSUFCU prize pack and a $200 gift card to Wheat Jewelers, 4990 Marsh Road, in Okemos, Mich. There will be another video and a grand prize of $7,500 to Wheat Jewelers chosen from all members who take the quizzes given out near the end of the year.
Beginning Sept. 1, members can submit their name at any MSUFCU branch to be in the running for a $7,500 vacation package.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the week of Nov. 12, an MSUFCU branch, with locations and dates not determined yet, will be giving away free MSUFCU cookies, hotdogs and a gift to members to celebrate the anniversary.
On Nov. 14, MSUFCU will host a 75th anniversary party at the MSUFCU headquarters, 3777 West Road, featuring free food, MSUFCU’s custom Dairy Store ice cream and a speech from MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon.
