Red Cross ends strike

June 19, 2012

The American Red Cross strike in Michigan and Ohio came to an end Tuesday, according to the Office and Professional Employees International Union press release.

The strike, which has been going on since March 30, involved issues with a new health care plan.
Picketers also claimed the nonprofit was involved in unfair labor practices.

According to the release, Red Cross employees agreed to go back to work but will be working under their old contract, as no new contract has been agreed upon.

The same Red Cross employees have not been under contract in four years.

Twenty-three other unions have agreed to the new health care plan.
