East Lansing Fire Department and MSU police responded to a chemical fire between 4:11 and 4:56 p.m. on June 21 in the Chemistry Building on Shaw Lane.
A 55-year-old employee was attempting to dispose of chemical waste under a fume hood and the waste began to smoke, then caught fire.
The employee called a 28-year-old male for help and they pulled the fire alarm to evacuate the building.
Firefighters distinguished the remaining flames and allowed individuals to re-enter the building.
There was no damage to the building.
Phone Missing
An 18-year-old male student reported his phone missing during Academic Orientation Program between 10-10:30 p.m. on June 19 in Case Hall.
The student was sitting on a bench in the cafeteria and the black Apple iPhone valued at $300 was sitting next to him. He then was unable to find the phone and after checking lost and found, he reported the phone missing to MSU police.
There currently are no suspects.
Purse Stolen
A 24-year-old female student reported her purse stolen between 5:20 and 5:40 p.m. on June 19 in Owen Hall.
The student was studying in the cafeteria and left for 20 minutes. Upon returning, she found her personal belongings missing.
The purse, valued at $20, contained a black Apple iPhone valued at $200, a Samsung laptop valued at $500, credit cards and $120 in cash.
There currently are no suspects.
