Two officers from the MSU Police Department caught a Caucasian 49-year-old Lansing male in the act of stealing a bicycle between 8:25-9:30 a.m. April 10 at the Butterfield Hall bicycle racks, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
A 51-year-old male university employee witnessed the suspect trying to cut the lock off of a green and white bicycle and called officers to the scene, McGlothian-Taylor said.
After making contact with him, officers determined the suspect’s intentions were to take the bicycle. The bicycle was valued at $299, with a lock valued at $15. The owner of the bicycle is unknown.
The suspect was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court in Clinton County and was turned in to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office. He currently is awaiting arraignment in Clinton County Jail.
