Facing misdemeanor charges for operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs and marijuana possession, MSU basketball player Derrick Nix waived his right to an arraignment on Friday in East Lansing’s 54-B District Court, according to court records.
Nix initially was pulled over at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Abbot and Lake Lansing roads for a red light violation, which he received a warning for.
Head coach Tom Izzo issued a statement Tuesday saying Nix had an uncertain future with the team. Nix has been suspended from the team indefinitely.
A date for Nix’s next court appearance has not yet been set, according to court records. Nix’s lawyer, James Heos, did not return requests for comment by The State News on Sunday night.
