MSU is a large university, so many students here seek ways to become a member of something smaller to establish relationships with fellow students and university faculty. There are numerous outlets, from student organizations to living learning communities, but my escape from the masses is the Bailey Scholars Program.
Bailey Scholars is a group of undergraduates, graduates, alumni and faculty working together to create a community of people who love to learn. The program offers a specialization in connected learning, with three classes involving working with professors to create a curriculum.
The program also gives me ways to get the most out of my time at school. Because of Bailey, I have explored the inside of Beaumont Tower, volunteered in East Lansing, visited the planetarium, learned about other cultures and created lasting bonds with students and faculty.
Not many people know about this hidden treasure on the banks of the Red Cedar, and I encourage anyone who wants to be a part of a welcoming community to check out Bailey.
