Series of thefts reported from East Neighborhood

Four seemingly-related thefts occurred in quick secession Thursday night in East Neighborhood, according to a press release from the MSU Police Department.

The first report came at 7:30 p.m. from a 19-year-old female student in East Holmes Hall. The student’s cell phone and cash allegedly were stolen from her room.

About 90 minutes later a 20-year-old female student reported a Coach purse stolen from her room in North Hubbard Hall where it had sat on a dresser near the door in . An 18-year-old male student reported his wallet was stolen from a dresser next to the door in South Hubbard Hall about 30 minutes later.

Around 11:45 p.m., a 19-year-old female student reported her Apple MacBook Pro laptop was stolen by two males in the South Hubbard Hall study lounge. The student said the males entered the room and asked her a question, and about five minutes later opened the door and grabbed the laptop from over her shoulder.

The student described the suspects as 18 to 20-year-old black males with medium builds, one of whom was wearing a black sweatshirt while the other wore a grey baseball hat.

Police said no weapon was observed and the student was not injured. The student stated the male wearing the hat took the computer.
