7-Eleven gives thanks to vets

November 10, 2011

In honor of Veteran’s Day, 7-Eleven is offering military veterans and their families a Slurpee Salute.

The convenience store chain — which has three locations in East Lansing — is offering free small Slurpee drinks to active, veteran and retired U.S. military personnel and their families.

The free drinks are available between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. to current or former military personnel, who are required to present proof of service.

The free Slurpee gift is part of 7-Eleven’s monthlong Operation: Thank You campaign benefitting United Service Organizations, or USO.

Throughout November, customers are encouraged to make a $1 donation as they check out, with the money going toward USO care packages to send to military troops currently serving overseas.

The USO care packages include various products such as beef jerky, trail mix, toiletry items and an AT&T phone card.
