MSU faculty, staff to remember Sept. 11 with two more events this week

September 11, 2011

Experts and MSU professors will host two additional events on the impact of Sept. 11 on a national and international level later this week.

Both events are free and open to the public.

As former director of information graphics for Newsweek Magazine during the attacks, journalism professor Karl Gude witnessed the devastation the attacks caused firsthand.

From 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Lincoln Room in Kellogg Center, Gude will relive his experiences as a journalist covering Sept. 11 and the aftermath of the destruction.

Several MSU professors and experts from across the country also will discuss the impact of Sept. 11 on the U.S. and abroad from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Union Ballroom.

Speakers include MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon and international relations professor Mohammed Ayoob.

Discussion topics include the impact of Sept. 11 on the Arab world and the comparisons between the War on Terror and the Cold War.
