Spartans land four-star receiver

July 28, 2011

On the day when many teams made noise at the Big Ten Media Day, MSU made some of its own along the recruiting trail.

Scout.com reports that MSU landed two verbal commitments, one from four-star wide receiver Aaron Burbridge and the other from three-star defensive back Jermaine Edmondson.

Burbridge, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver from Farmington Hills, Mich., becomes the third receiver to sign on for Mark Dantonio’s 2012 class, shucking offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois, Cincinnati and Notre Dame. Edmondson, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound defensive back from Canton, Ohio, gathered attention from Louisville, Nebraska and Illinois before committing to the Spartans.

In his junior season at Farmington Hills Harrison, Burbridge had 30 receptions for 620 yards and also was a leader as a defensive back, collecting five interceptions and returning two for touchdowns. Also in his junior season, Edmondson recorded 42 tackles and seven interceptions for Canton McKinley Senior High School (Ohio), the school that also produced former Spartan basketball players Raymar Morgan and Eric Snow.

Other verbal commitments joining the 2012 class include quarterback Tyler O’Connor, wide receivers MacGarrett Kings Jr. and Kyle Kerrick, defensive end Se’Von Pittman, linebacker Riley Bullough, offensive linemen Benny McGowan and Zach Higgins and tight end Evan Jones.
