Football lands Vanderbilt transfer

July 20, 2011

MSU will bolster its defensive line with the addition of an old recruiting target.

According to Scout.com, Vanderbilt defensive end James Kittredge is expected to transfer to MSU, where he is expected to play defensive tackle when he’s eligible in 2012.

Kittredge — who was known in high school for playing defensive end — was moved to the offensive line at Vanderbilt because of depth issues.

The Ramsey, N.J., native was a three-star recruit coming out of Don Bosco Prep High School and reportedly received offers from MSU, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Maryland. During his senior year of high school, Kittredge — a former Under Armour All-American — helped lead the way for a 12-0 season and a No. 1 ranking in the nation by USA Today.
