Trustees vote to raise tuition 6.9 percent

June 17, 2011

Grand Rapids — The MSU Board of Trustees voted Friday to increase tuition for this coming fall by 6.9 percent.

The tuition increase is slightly less than the maximum amount allowed under last year’s preliminary budget guidelines, which allowed for no more than a 7.2 percent increase.

The board also voted to approve the 2011-12 Budget Development Guidelines and the 2012-13 Preliminary General Fund Budget Guidelines.

Next year’s budget guidelines are anticipating a 0 percent change in state appropriations, despite this year’s 15 percent drop in funding.
