Lansing robbery suspect at large

May 17, 2011

The PNC Bank, 3335 E. Michigan Ave., near the Frandor Shopping Center in Lansing, was robbed at about 1 p.m. today, Lansing police Sgt. Drew Macon said.

Lansing, East Lansing and MSU police, along with the FBI and K-9 units from several departments from the surrounding area, responded to the robbery, Macon said. The MSU and East Lansing Police Departments confirmed their involvement.

Whether the suspect carried a weapon is undisclosed, Macon said. No one was injured because of the robbery, he said.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall black male in his 40s, last seen wearing all black, Macon said.

It is believed the suspect left the bank on foot, Macon said.

K-9 units tracked a potential foot trail from the bank, through a parking garage at 1231 E. Michigan Ave. and the Red Cedar Golf Course, 203 S. Clippert St., in Lansing, East Lansing police Officer Todd Quick said.

The Portland Federal Credit Union, 2930 N. Grand River Ave. in Lansing, also was robbed at about 9:30 a.m. today, although at this time the two incidents do not appear to be related, Macon said.
