No major damage reported after Sunday night storm

May 29, 2011

East Lansing fire officials have reported no major damage in the area after Sunday night’s severe weather.

A tornado warning was in effect for Ingham County until 5:45 p.m. Sunday evening, and in nearby Mason, high winds and heavy rain led to downed trees and power outages in downtown. No major damage was visible in downtown East Lansing.

Officials with the East Lansing Police Department were unable to confirm if there were any emergency situations in the city as a result of the weather, and officials with the National Weather Service in
Grand Rapids could not be reached for comment.

Consumers Energy reported over 16,000 customers in Ingham County were without power as of 7:30 p.m.
