Track runs well in Arizona

April 10, 2011

The MSU men and women’s track and field program ran well in its second outdoor meet of the season this weekend, competing in the Sun Angel Track Classic in Tempe, Ariz.

22 Spartan runners placed in the top five of their respective events, with 16 of those finishes coming on the second day.

Five athletes posted career-high marks, including junior Kevin Jackson, who finished second in the collegiate division of the men’s high jump with a mark of 2.10 meters.

Junior distance runner Tiffany Evans ran a personal-best time of 10:43.84 in the steeplechase, while sophomore Alysson Bodenbach posted a personal-best time of 24.91 in the premier division of the 200-meter dash to finish third overall for the women’s program.

Senior sprinter Yury Ratomsky built on his strong performance at last week’s Spartan Invitational by finishing fifth overall in the premier division of the men’s 200-meter dash, in a season-best time of 21.72.

Junior Durant Crum was another Spartan to finish with a season-best mark, jumping 14.12 meters in the men’s triple jump. Crum finished fourth overall in the collegiate division.

The program next competes at both the EMU Twilight in Ypsilanti, Mich., and the Indiana Quad Meet in Bloomington, Ind., on April 15-16.
