The Council of Graduate Students, or COGS, elected their 2011-2012 executive board on Wednesday night.
Stefan Fletcher was re-elected as president by acclimation after running unopposed. Adam Lovgren, who held the position of vice president for external affairs this year, was elected to the position of vice president for internal affairs and also ran unopposed.
LeighAnn Jordan, a representative for the Department of Chemistry, was elected to the position of vice president for external affairs, succeeding the position left open by Lovgren and also running unopposed.
Running for the position of treasurer was Tim Breen, a representative for the MSU Law School and Shannon Demlow, the current vice president for internal affairs. With a vote of 12-9, Demlow was elected to the position.
Recording Secretary Kate Guica was re-elected to the position and ran unopposed.
The council also voted in favor of working with various businesses and organizations within the East Lansing community to help raise money for relief aid for Japan, following the tsunami that struck the country earlier this week.
COGS representatives pledged to match as much as $1,000 raised by other community partners, COGS President Stefan Fletcher said. That money would then be donated to an organization providing aid relief to Japan.
Fletcher said the American Red Cross likely would be the fundraiser’s benefactor.
