Student hospitalized, released after fall

February 3, 2011

An 18-year-old male student was taken to the hospital Tuesday after falling off a hand railing in Wilson Hall, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

As the student was leaving the cafeteria in Wilson Hall, he slid down the hand railings of the stairs, McGlothian-Taylor said.

He made it down the first set of stairs but as he was sliding down the second set he lost his balance and fell 20 to 25 feet down to the basement.

The East Lansing Fire Department responded to the incident and treated the student, then took him to Sparrow Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
