Students return from break to empty piggy banks

January 10, 2011

Two 18-year-old female students reported money was stolen from their piggy banks during the winter break, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

The victims left their dorm room in West Akers Hall with the door locked on Dec. 16, 2010, and returned on Jan. 9 to find the door still locked and their piggy banks empty, McGlothian-Taylor said.

The first victim left her piggy bank on top of her dresser and allegedly had $5 in coins taken from it.

The second victim left her piggy bank in the bottom drawer of her dresser and she also allegedly had $5 in coins and $10 in bills taken. The piggy banks were unharmed.

The incident is under investigation and there are no suspects.
