MSU senior charged with assault on Sen.

January 9, 2011

Anthropology senior Ahlam Mohsen was charged with assault on a member of Congress and assault on a federal officer in a Dec. 30, 2010, indictment after allegedly hitting Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., in the face with an apple pie Aug. 16, 2010, according to a report from the Grand Rapids Press.

The pieing was part of anti-war protest by Mohsen and 23-year-old Max Kantar of Big Rapids, Mich., who faces the same charges.

Mohsen faced state charges prior to the indictment but no hearings have been set for the federal case, which is to be held before U.S. District Judge Robert Holmes Bell.

Mohsen previously was arrested in 2009 for sitting in Levin’s Lansing office.
