MSU linebacker Jones repeats as All-American

December 14, 2010

MSU senior linebacker Greg Jones was named to The Associated Press All-America first team Tuesday.

The leader of a much-improved Spartans defense, Jones became the only player on the first team last season to repeat and receive the honor again this year.

Starting all 12 games this season, Jones has recorded 98 tackles, one sack, eight tackles for loss and his first two career interceptions.

Jones returned for his senior year despite having a chance to go to the NFL. By coming back, Jones was able to win a Big Ten championship with No. 7 MSU (11-1) and become a member of the winningest senior class in school history.

On New Year’s Day, Jones and the Spartans will take on No. 15 Alabama (9-3) in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
