A small fire broke out Saturday morning in a hot box unit keeping pizzas warm at the Union Pizzeria, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
The fire was contained in the box and was extinguished by the time the East Lansing Police Department arrived on the scene, McGlothian-Taylor said.
The fire was caused by a missing protective cover over one of the box’s heating elements.
Twenty 12-inch pizzas valued at $100 were lost in the fire.
