A simple assault occurred Saturday morning between two suite mates in West Holden Hall, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
A 19-year-old male student went to his suite mate’s room to use a computer with permission from the owner, who also lived in the suite, McGlothian-Taylor said. The other suite mate, a 20-year-old male student, sent a derogatory text message to his roommate about the 19-year-old.
The 19-year-old read the message on the phone, which was next to the computer, and began to argue with the 20-year-old. The 19-year-old then punched his suite mate twice in the mouth. In self-defense, the 20-year-old shoved the 19-year-old away. The report states the 20-year-old doesn’t like the 19-year-old or his frequent use of the computer in the 20-year-old’s room.
