Man robbed near Beaumont Tower

MSU police are investigating a report of an armed robbery against an 18-year-old male student that occurred at about 3 a.m. Thursday near Beaumont Tower, according to a university e-mail to students.

MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor was not available for comment Thursday afternoon when the e-mail was distributed.

The student reported the suspect robbed him at knifepoint while he was walking toward Grand River Avenue. After taking the victim’s backpack and wallet, the suspect ran on foot, according to the e-mail.

The suspect is described as a white male with brown hair and about six feet tall with an athletic build. He was last seen wearing jeans and a ball cap.

MSU police are asking anyone with information of the incident to contact the department at (517) 355-2222.
