Football team opens fall camp

August 8, 2010

Sunday marked the beginning of the 2010 season for the MSU football team, as players reported for physicals and team meetings.

Preseason practice begins today, as the Spartans officially begin to prepare for another season of MSU football.

The Spartans, led by head coach Mark Dantonio, are coming off of a 6-7 season that was capped by a 41-31 loss to Texas Tech in the 2010 Valero Alamo Bowl. The bowl was MSU’s third consecutive bowl game, all under Dantonio.

MSU returns experience on both sides of the ball from last season, including All-American senior linebacker and preseason Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Greg Jones and second-year starting quarterback junior Kirk Cousins.

After almost a month of preseason camp, the Spartans open their season at noon Sept. 4 at Spartan Stadium against Western Michigan.
